More and more organisations are opting for individualised development solutions for their people rather than generic classroom training. Whilst we can and do provide the more traditional training options, we are told that 360 feedback tools and performance coaching are more compelling and cost effective ways of developing people.
360 feedback refers to the highly effective process whereby an individual’s performance is reviewed by subordinates, peers, superiors and sometimes clients. It provides the individual with a rich source of quantitative and qualitative data about how others rate their performance and approach.
Performance coaching, as opposed to career or life coaching, is a dynamic form of coaching which focuses on achieving visible performance improvement within an agreed timescale. We utilise a Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC) approach that helps individuals identify barriers to their current performance and explore ways to overcome them. The main focus is to help individuals develop clear plans of action. But as a byproduct, CBC often encourages individuals to increase self-awareness about their personal style and approach.
